Apollo Attorneys at Law is founded by Wei, Yang-Hung Esq. in Taipei, Taiwan, in 2014.
During his tenure to serve as the partner heading cross-border dispute resolution team in a mid-size business law firm, Mr. Wei got the profound feeling that high quality legal service is the key to protect clients’ rights and to mitigate the clients’ losses when foreign and domestic small businesses and individuals would face legal issues in Taiwan.
Unfortunately, the only official language adopted by Taiwan legal and administrative authorities is Chinese. It would be difficult to communicate through a translator, and it is even worse that in many occasions, the translators appointed by the legal department would usually make mistakes in critical moments. For example, it is our own experience that one of our clients faced a very severe disadvantageous treatment by a prosecutor during a hearing solely because of his language barrier and the translator’s failing to do his job. He was not saved until his family abroad finally engaged Mr. Wei for him to solve the communication problem and to bail him out to properly resolve the charges he faced. For a foreign client, it might not be difficult to find a good lawyer in Taiwan, but it is hard to find a good one who can directly communicate in English. Finding a lawyer who can speak good English is as critical as finding a seasoned one to a foreign client in Taiwan.
Local lawyers who may directly communicate with foreign clients in English is few and mainly worked for large to mid-sized business law firms. So whenever foreign clients will face legal issues, they usually will have to turn to the larger firms for help. But the substantial legal fees accompanied would always be discouraging. Mr. Wei saw the needs of the foreign clients for solid and cost effective legal services in Taiwan, and decided to found Apollo Law based upon his long term working experience in larger business law firm. So that our client will not have to concern about the legal cost and language barrier issues when facing legal matters. Don’t worry, we’ve got your back!
